Game Party April 17th.
What a fun day we had on Saturday April 17th. at the “Game Party”. Starting at 3:00, the margarita’s were flowing, the games began and the party went on and on until midnight when Craig and Stacy were the last to leave. Marcia, Kirk, and Carl were the first to arrive, Kirk became the gate keeper, Carl was ready to help with the parking, and Marcia jumped in and helped make the quesadillas. As people continued to arrive the games started; Cyndi H. played bean bags early in the day. Ping Pong was a hit, we quickly discovered that there is a side to some of our members that we haven’t see before – a competitive nature you might say. Although Larry K. was the first to win at Ping Pong, beating Leslie, he was lucky to get out without any injuries during his game with Claire, she can really slam the ball. Stephanie and Larry H. had a heated match as well as Art & Carl, Kirk & Marcia. The biggest competition being Art and Randy, after 3 games, Randy won but it was close. I think the last game ended around 9:00, it was too dark to see that little ball. The shuffleboard game brought out the same competitive spirit; if you were in a point situation, it wasn’t long before you disk was knocked off the board and the cheers and yelling would start. The game kept busy until after 11:00. Larry H. didn’t have a chance against Heidi, watch out for the quiet ones. Marcia, Claire, and Larry played pool inside, there was card game going on with a new member Jeanette, playing with Lisa, Lou, Heidi, and Mike, I am not sure what they were playing but it lasted a long time. As the day went on, Claire decided to play Ladderball which went right through the group. She gave them a little warning then tossed the boles. Although she got pretty close to Vern and Randy, I’m sure that wasn’t intentional – right Claire??? Ladderball is a tough game; we were all impressed when Randy landed 6 tosses in a row. Those that aren’t game players, had a good time watching others play and doing what they do best – socializing… Since the theme of the party was San Felipe, Wayne wore an old San Felipe shirt and hat, Cyndi H. had her SF hat, Vern and Cyndi showed up wearing their serapes’ and hats, and Lisa and I had our San Felipe sundresses on.
The food was great! A big thanks to those that helped: Art cooked the steak, chicken, and cheese quesadillas, Marcia’s tamale pie, Kirk’s Serveche, Sherry’s enchilada casserole, Randy’s salsa, Cyndi’s fajita dish, Craig’s Meatloaf, and Stacy’s Flan (aka cheesecake). All of the dishes were delicious. A little later we brought out another cheese cake, Chocolate Lover Torte and fresh strawberries. Thank you Wayne for sharing your San Felipe margarita recipe. Cyndi H. thanks for helping with the clean up. A huge thank you to Art! Although I volunteer to do these parties, I could not do it without him; he works so hard to make it perfect and does it with a smile.
All and all, it could not have been a better day and night; we ate, we played, we visited; it appeared that everyone had a good time and the weather was great. There is nothing better than spending a day with good friends. Check out the website for pictures. For those fun loving Sitzmarkers that attended, thank you for coming, we’ll have to do it again.
